Jews called it out in Proverbs 16:18: "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall". Hindus denigrate the "Illusion of Separateness", which is the narcissistic urge. Lies are not the root of all evil. Why lie? Ego. Honesty requires humility.
