I do run a Jellyfin server for family, but I don't use it that much. I just do everything through a terminal, like I do most other stuff. It's faster and less finicky, I feel.
- danparsonson 8d agoHow does the terminal replace a networked media player?
- OroPla 8d agoBy using a bunch of CLI tools and self-written scripts. I don't use streaming (though, mpv can likely handle it). Prefer to have all media I use locally. Don't watch video on my phone, either.
- danparsonson 8d agoOK, I understand now; you mean Jellyfin is only used by your family, because you prefer to use the CLI instead. I didn't parse it that way initially.

- account42 7d agoMan get with the times and switch to mplayer2 already /s mpv can still do terminal ANSI-art output if you really want but it can also display pixels directly via DRM without a display server if you launch it from a random VT.
