I'm not sure it's really snarky. In large parts of Germany stores have been closed on Sundays for most of my life (and where I live also after 20:00) and yes, going into town or to IKEA on a Saturday is actually a meme sometimes. Both things can be true - I can be indifferent or appreciative of stuff being closed on Sundays and I can also be annoyed that 90% of the people have their only free day on the same day and thus bigger shopping needs to happen there instead of being spread over two days, unless you take days off.
