I've seriously considered it, but then the VPS is my single point of failure. If there's a new nginx/apache/caddy/linux 0day that could compromise my server, I have to care about it and update. My websites typically serve 500 GB to 800 TB of bandwidth per month, and I run my businesses on static sites. It's not often that I get a big burst of visitors, but it happens a few times a year, and I wouldn't want to lose out on hundreds to thousands of dollars in sales because I was trying to save $20/mo on hosting.
