The userbase of Firefox existing is obvious signs of caring. You really got to go out of your way to not use chromium. The userbase grows when people help others understand these issues, or ideally just install firefox for their non techie friends and set them up with ubo. be the change you want to see.
- palata 14d ago> The userbase of Firefox existing is obvious signs of caring. And that's pretty much a rounding error, getting smaller every year, right? Or would you say that "most people don't care" does not apply when it's only 99% of people that don't care?
- nickthegreek 14d agoWell I would say that the firefox userbase is 3%+ across all platforms (over 7% on desktop) and that is larger than a rounding error.
- palata 14d agoI feel like we are nitpicking here. Would you say that Google actually cares about those 3%? When you have 97% of the market, you own the market, right? It's actually problematic to own 100% because then it's strictly a monopoly. Whereas with 97% you can pretend it's not a monopoly.
- nickthegreek 14d agoWhy do i care about google’s opinion on the 7% desktop users. I just care that I have firefox. I continue to say that having 7% on desktop is an incredible large userbase when you convert it to people and not a percentage. Ive only pushed back on the minimizing all these people to ‘a rounding error’.
- palata 13d agoRight. So I say "people don't care", and you say "they do: look at the 3% of people who use Firefox!". Can we agree on "the vast majority of people don't care", then? Does 97% or even 93% qualify for me to say "the vast majority"?
