I actually think this is a good thing. While the technical side is important, I think that having a person who the team gets along with and has a similar mindset is more important than ever. Technical gaps will always be there, and people will have to work with those and learn. Maybe I am just talking from the perspective of a SWE that is not exceptional, but this is my feeling.
