Panix, the oldest commercial Internet provider in New York, started in 1989
- uptime 21d agoI had no idea panix was still around, wow. I had a shell account there in 94. Loved their service and PPP access! (edited: I fused my panix and my nynet past experiences. Deleted that part.)
- svyatoslavpavl 21d agotheir front page still lists unix shell access and even national dialup. 36 years on and the product page barely needed to change
- mrlonglong 18d agoTheir web site is a museum in its own right. The original web before it all went commercial.
- lakkal 16d agoThe World was what I used in the early 90s in the Boston area. They also started in 1989 and have a nice history writeup here: https://theworld.com/world/about/history/our_version https://theworld.com/world/about/history/our_version
