I really wish there was a way to filter out discussions about AI on HN. It feels like lately they take up a good 1/3 of posts on the front page. I don't want to hear about some new AI startup.

Having a set of tag presets would help somewhat for filtering.

  HN has been strongly adverse to tags for quite some time - for legitimate reasons. I don't think we'll see it anytime soon.

    For reasons. The legitimacy of which are debatable. Lobste.rs seems to get along fine with them.

Personally, I've forked the hnrss project to create two separate feeds (ironically, quickly implemented using AI). It just a basic filter based on keywords, but it helps.

  I made a similar site https://unslop.news/ https://unslop.news/ but rather than keywords it actually feeds the title and article to an AI which classifies it as "about AI" or not to filter out the AI discussion. 1/3? Try 2/3 or more. And the technical articles I used to enjoy reading are outright gone. This is an entirely different site from what it was just a few years ago, even if the orange tint remains the same.

There is a really easy way to do this. Ask an AI to write a browser plugin to filter out the AI discussions. Ask AI to save you from AI.
