There was always a shortage of capable developers coupled with abundance of unqualified (not to be confused with inexperienced). This explains both why development was so expensive and why the interviewing process was so ridiculous.
- reverius42 23d agoYes, a true overabundance would bring salaries trending down (theoretically all the way down to minimum wage) until the overabundance is fixed by making people choose other careers.
- varjag 23d agoIndeed and that's where I suppose we're heading now that dev work had been trivialized.
