ASML uses critical components made in the US that the US can put export controls more directly so they can effectively control who ASML sells to.
- pseudohadamard 26d agoGood point. So could it come down to a Mexican standoff if ASML digs their heels in? Or would it drive ASML to look for Chinese suppliers instead, completely cutting out the US, so the worst possible outcome for the US?
- etempleton 25d agoComponents that are one of one. It would be bad for both countries and ASML. China is the biggest threat to ASML business, so there is incentive alignment.
