how do you know they were really official company recruiters?

  not OP, but because I've looked for a job previously and have experiences with recruiters like that which ended up at a legitimate offer at the companies they claimed to represent?

    By not using their 'official' company email account, I'd assume the recruiter is working on the side behind their employers back.
