  They prepared for that by scanning 3rd world eyeballs. They will have them spend an hour staring into the sphere (verified by retina scan) for a drop of fresh water to satisfy the spying requirements.

Looked into the author's history, credentials, background, and education. OpenAI couldn't find a single more qualified person to lead their AI futures?

From the title I assumed this would be about futures contracts for inference, similar to CME's new GPU compute futures. Instead "Futures" the the name of some weird political think-tank that's envisioning the collapse of society. Guess they need to create hype somehow.

It is both hilarious and horrifying that they reference the US Government's system of checks and balances as something to be emulated to protect the people in a post-AI societal reorganization without ever mentioning what everybody knows, which is that this system has completely failed in modern times with both the legislative and judicial branches completely abdicating all of their power to an oligarchic executive.
