It's incredible this is even in debate. It's one of those intuitive things well known since the reduction of coal burning and smog during the industrial revolution in London?
- Symbiote 29d agoThe right (Conservative) and far right (Reform) parties both say they will abolish low-emission zones and other measures to reduce pointing traffic. They made it into a culture war topic.

- citrin_ru 29d agoConservatives flipped on multiple of their policies after Reform's success on local election in 2025 and started to copy Reform UK. Even the Labour shifter right after 2025.
- _joel 29d agoHow's Reform UK Ltd. done since then? They've lost 2 by-elections and beaten a bin. Sterling job I guess if you listen to any of their members.
- citrin_ru 29d agoThey dropped a few points in pools but for Conservatives they likely will be the main competitor - among Reform UK voters there are much more former Tory voters than former Labour voters.

- pjc50 29d agoThe amount of wailing about this was unbelievable. London is a terrible city for driving in in the first place, and the idea of 10% of them having to change cars provoked totally absurd responses. We're going to see the same when EV-only mandates, true zero emissions zones, start appearing across the next decade.
- citrin_ru 29d agoIt's madness but I hope abolishing ULEZ will have little impact at least for London - people who already drive modern cars will not start suddenly replacing them with older more polluting ones.
