Show HN: Turtle – Web Browser written from scratch for 2 years
A few weeks ago I posted my solo browser projects and since I have received lots of messages asking the download link.
I was a bit reluctant to release it since it's not at a stable level yet. However I finally decided to just put it out there as a pre-alpha since so many emails I have received.
So now you can grab this pre-alpha from https://code.intellios.ai/cwbrowser/ https://code.intellios.ai/cwbrowser/
Note: Expect bugs, missing features, and crashes. Plenty of the web will render imperfectly or not at all. This is an early look, not a daily driver.
- mansi1010 1mo agoExciting product, it seems stable enough. Hat's off to the work. Will you keep working on it?
- coolwulf 1mo agoIt's far from 'stable' IMHO. Lots of rendering errors, crashes. Yes, I will keep working on it, just like the past two years.
- coolwulf 1mo agoPut it here in case people ask why: to democratize the browser field since Google Chrome monoply is not what we want. For source code: it's in the plan to release it however I would prefer it to be more stable before releasing. Also I don't like using Github since it's M$ owned.
- Anurag_pathapal 1mo agoIn the era of the AI based browsers and search engines which gives the optimised results for us, can you highlight few points like why we need to use the conventional browser like turtle?
- coolwulf 1mo agoConventional browser won't go away in the near future.
- neerajmurarka 1mo agoMac Only? I am on a Mac right now so i am wondering if I can install this on my Ubuntu box?
