Why did it take so long?

  Firefox was a mainstream browser. After it stopped being one, it did what all the other browsers did: bake adblock within. Even now they do so with trepidation.

  No clue. I once gave Firefox a 4 star review on the App Store saying my only qualm was that there was no adblocker, despite other browsers having them (I gave examples of Edge & Brave). They replied within a day or two stating it was a "limitation of the web engine" and there was nothing they could do until Apple changed their policy. Then, they deleted my bad review. Really changed the way I looked at Mozilla.
