The elephant in the room here is that there are no FLOSS LLMs. Renders most of the rest of this argument moot.
- joarxpablo 1mo agoIt is a bit hard to quantify the FLOSS-nature of open-weight models, but technically Deepseek publishes all of their models under the MIT license (https://huggingface.co/models?license=license:mit https://huggingface.co/models?license=license:mit), an FSF-approved FLOSS license.
- eesmith 1mo agoI also know someone who publishes their JAR files under the MIT license, though they don't publish the source code, so ... have fun reverse-engineering!
