- niwtsol 1mo agoYeah, I think this one might be the straw that broke the camel's back and our team will look to migrate to something non-microsoft to be away from this nonsense.
- canadiantim 1mo agoWhat are the alternatives?
- Syntaf 1mo agoMy company is migrating repositories over to a self-hosted forgejo instance, currently very jealous of the engineers working on those migrated repos.
- siwatanejo 1mo agoBeware, CodeBerg (ForgeJo creators) has forbidden AI & crypto: https://hackaday.com/2026/07/24/codeberg-bans-cryptocurrency-and-llm-generated-code-projects/ https://hackaday.com/2026/07/24/codeberg-bans-cryptocurrency...
- kevinfiol 1mo agoI don't think they have to worry about that since they are self-hosting.
- dust-jacket 1mo agoBut that's on their (free!) hosted OSS platform. No-one's stopping you hosting your own projects.
- VCFundedGenYer 1mo agoAzure DevOps (Also MS owned but more stable than GitHub), GitLab, Codeberg, etc.

- s_Hogg 1mo agoYeah I went through hell migrating everything from ADO to GH Actions a year or so ago and even after all this I'm not even slightly close to wanting to go back
- tcfhgj 1mo agoI migrated to gitlab, then to codeberg
- pelasaco 1mo agowhich isn't necessarily better.. just less traffic

- nerdypepper 1mo agotangled supports selfhosted CI runners using NixOS microvms: https://blog.tangled.org/spindle-microvm/ https://blog.tangled.org/spindle-microvm/ selfhosted runners do not go down when our CI is down, its operates separately.
- layer8 1mo agoSelf-hosted GitLab.
- zamalek 1mo agoI got Claude to write a forejo instance in TF (oidc + CI runners + daily backups + the works) in half a day.
