If you want to use basic html, css, and js, you can use the flag --basic to the end of a roots new command : ) But yeah I'm thinking some option for custom default templates might be nice to add, now that you bring this up. Also, try coffeescript! It's great, promise

    You won't regret it. Just give yourself a week or so to get used to it - it seems frustrating at first when you make syntax errors, but it is a life saver in the long run
