They don't want the chance that lawyers of some big tech state that they violated they copyright and asks for millions of compensation, like it happened in the past in different scenarios, because an LLM decided to copy an identical piece of code that is present in a closed source project (where the LLM was trained to, because you don't know the license of the training dataset, who knows if OpenAI or Anthropic or others for example trains their LLM on their private codebase).
