This is amazing! I'm guessing this can be used for creating 3D models of outdoor routes if you wore a vision pro on rappel? How accurate do you think it would be for "seeing into" cracks, at least deep enough to pick up the relevant details for gear placements and climbing movements?
- a_c 2mo agoAccurate reconstruction is entirely up to the camera's ability to orbit around the object. If we are talking about cracks, the visual signal will be very poor as we can't wiggle a camera inside a crack. On the other hand, if we want a 3D reconstruction of a route in general, using a drone, then that's very doable. We still rely on 2D climbing magazine/book/app to view a route, where the contour of the route itself is highly desirably imo.
