As a curiosity, "Générique" is not a name for a song. "Générique" is the word used in French for the music that plays over the intro opening credits of a movie or TV show episode.
In this case, this would be the song that plays over the intro credits of "Ascenseur Pour l'Echaffaud" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051378/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051378/).
(Ie. Miles Davis might have several pieces of music all titled 'générique', for the various movies or shows where he contributed on soundtracks)

- idiotsecant 2mo agoThere is a specific composition from 1958 that miles davis called Générique. It was composed for elevator to the gallows.
- gnubison 2mo agoGP’s “Ascenseur pour l’Échafaud” means “elevator for the gallows.” I think they are familiar with the composition, you might be missing the point of their comment.
- idiotsecant 2mo agoParent is asserting that this in a generic title for film music. While others might have, That's not the way the artist used it. He used it like a proper noun specific to that composition.
