- throwaway173738 2mo agoNo, democracy is just rule by the people. It says nothing about requiring proportional representation or about how disagreements are arbitrated. In ancient Athens you weren’t elected, you were randomly appointed by sortition into a council. Voting for representation is a fairly new concept, and so is direct democracy. Democracy is more about everyone having input that is accepted. What you’re proposing is tyranny by the majority.
