Maybe in the circles you circled in ... where I am from, I never had anyone saying "belt-and-suspenders" or "load-bearing" or "boil the ocean" or "swing for the fences" when talking about engineering topics. The only one who I heard say "circle-back to you" was Psaki.
- mceachen 2mo agoAll of those phrases I've heard actively used even a decade (or two) ago. (I actually had to read your comment twice because I thought you were saying always, not never!) "Critical path" and "long pole in tent" didn't make it into the model training data, but those were certainly also in play incessantly. But they're all reasonably useful descriptions for common things, so I'm not surprised.
- Sharlin 2mo agoWell, "load-bearing" is specifically an engineering term :D Actual engineering, not software "engineering".
