Ask HN: What do you care about? What is your joy and purpose?

- toomuchtodo 3mo agoI enjoy interesting work with polite, grounded, emotionally healthy people smarter than myself, with reasonable comp and work life balance expectations. My joy is time with loved ones and my kids, helping deserving others, and learning/sharing knowledge; work is just work, it is mostly meaningless in most contexts. It will always be there in some capacity, like a waterfall one sticks their cup in when thirsty. Have to quench your thirst, but it is not the point of living.
- chistev 3mo agoIt’s easy to get caught up in the heady buzz of making money. You should regard money as fuel for what you really want to do, not as a goal in and of itself. Money is like gas in the car — you need to pay attention or you’ll end up on the side of the road — but a well-lived life is not a tour of gas stations! - Tim O'Reilly on money
