Kunrei has been deprecated, Hepburn is the official one even the government of Japan recommends these days and matches better the pronunciation of the language.
- numpad0 3mo agoBut nobody cares about formal romanization rules in the first place. People have informal bastardizations of Hepburn that's consistent enough for typing, and Kunrei deprecation is more or less just admission of the status quo.
- asutekku 3mo agoMost people use hepburn these days, it's people who learned japanese 20 years ago or so who are still stuck with kunrei.
