Monitor cable note: You don't have to use the expensive dual-link DVI adapters if you have a monitor that supports the standard sized DisplayPort. That's exactly what I did as well. It works a treat, other than the cable and/or connection sometimes being finicky and sending the external monitor into sleep mode. I suspect a higher quality cable wouldn't exhibit this problem.
