I saw a Waymo with safety driver driving around Boston a few weeks back. The concerning thing was just how much it backed up traffic getting off the freeway because they're not allowed to go any faster than the posted speed limit.
- Analemma_ 3mo ago"Car obeys the speed limit, drivers lucid with rage" definitely sounds like my memories of Boston.
- Falimonda 3mo agoGoing with the flow of traffic is important! Don't pretend you always drive exactly at or below the limit.
- sebzim4500 3mo agoPresumably Tesla will not make this decision, it will be interesting to see how much consumers value faster ride times if Tesla FSD ever get their shit together
- thebigman433 3mo agoI think the important thing here is that driving faster hardly makes your trip shorter, especially for trips within a city. You're likely talking about a <1-2 minute difference even if the Tesla is driving recklessly.
- sebzim4500 3mo agoYeah but that's not nothing, and passengers will be annoyed by seeing cars overtake them
- Falimonda 3mo agoThis and also that slowing down to drive exactly at the limit into an exit is going to cause unnecessary traffic upstream the freeway
