- jcynix 9mo agoNice! It describes, among others, Sid Sackson's "Lines of Action" (LoA) from bis inspiring book "A Gamut of Games" which describes a large number of games which can be played with just paper and pencil or a checkerboard. I always liked these kinds of games, easily self constructible, easy to carry and fun to play. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Gamut_of_Games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Gamut_of_Games And I always bewildered when I see some of these games built in plastic instead, like e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_%28game%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_%28game%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dots_and_boxes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dots_and_boxes
