SecureBoot, UEFI and such, the PC is forced to stop being a general purpose computing device, and more like an xbox, ps3 or smartphone - a computing device where the manufacturer and/or os-maker controls what can and will run on the device. Its about your freedom. Freedom to run whatever computations you please on general purpose computers that you own. With SecureBoot and win8 so is not the case.
