I've had phpstorm get stuck indexing until I shut the app down, no matter what Stack overflow voodoo I tried to break the cycle. Vscode and intelephense handled the same project without breaking a sweat. I've had much better experience with IntelliJ. No matter the maven or gradle project I've thrown at it, it just works.
