I've got a early 2009 17" MBP just extensively serviced by Apple (new logic board, display, etc.), and I've noticed that when closed and I pick it up and put it down on a table, the apple logo glows for a moment and goes out. I'm convinced that this has something to do with the built in Sudden Motion Sensor that wakes up the computer.
