If you dress like an engineer, you are an engineer :)
- mayanksinghal 14y agoBut you are a real engineer only if you are an Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Industrial, otherwise you are probably digital / unreal ?
- kdaganio 14y agoYou beat me to it! Reading the title that's what I initially thought, that a 'real' engineer is limited to said fields above?
- sliverstorm 14y agoIs there a proper, PC term for it? We all know the dividing line which is meant- roughly approximated by a PE license- but is there a term for it? "Licensed Engineer"?
- protomyth 14y agoIn some states, using the word "engineer" for a non-licensed position or person is against the law. In other words, in some states the term is simply "engineer".
- sliverstorm 14y agoIn that context, it's funny how upset folks in threads like these get over phrases like "real engineer".
- mjwalshe 14y agoAsk them to use a solding iron its the only way to separate the women and men from the boys and girls (and COBOL programmers)
- calciphus 14y agoFantasy Engineer. New Business Cards
- nhebb 14y agoAs an Industrial Engineering major, the old joke was that "IE" stands for "Imaginary Engineering".
- mjwalshe 14y agoOh so wellies (steel toe caped of course) and jeans and a white labcoat then. Accesorised with a RPN (The one true way ) HP Calculator and a slide rule in the top pocket :-)
