- owenversteeg 1y agoObviously we can, global groundwater depletion is very hard to estimate but estimates range from 20-300 km3/year (this paper uses a figure of 126.) Global desalination production is around 35 km3/year and growing rapidly. 1km3 water =1 gigaton = 1B m3 water.
