Is edge also following suit?
- p_ing 1y agoIn the past Microsoft said they would. It would be a large engineering effort to preserve Manifestv2
- rasz 1y agoFor microsoft its a joke to support. We are talking about _one hook_ into Chrome internals for declarativeNetRequest to work.
- p_ing 1y agoI hear this and I also hear the lack of experience with enterprise (let alone commercial) software development. Five lines of code still requires one dev, one PM, and one manager. It still requires security reviews, audits, and so on. There are no free lines of code in a commercial code base.
- rasz 1y agoAs I said its a joke to MS, they are a $3 trillion company. Not to mention all that AI replacing developers they keep talking about :)
- p_ing 1y agoApple is a $3tn company and can't do anything-AI. I mean, revenue totals aren't a measure of capability, will, or want.
- rasz 1y agoThere is a substantial difference between developing state of the art hot R&D technology and maintaining one js hook into C codebase, especially considering its only this one webRequest.onBeforeRequest binding we are interested in thats being degrade/blocked/deleted and not the underlying codebase https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44544266 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44544266 The problem here is $17B ad revenue MS is earning https://www.emarketer.com/content/microsoft-s-ad-revenues-grew-21--q4-but-tiktok-deal-would-double-them https://www.emarketer.com/content/microsoft-s-ad-revenues-gr...
