- pxc 1y agoIsrael is the US' imperial outpost in the Middle East. Congress doesn't want the empire to lose its foothold.

The USA did put a lot of thought and planning into avoiding being embroiled in a middle-east war. I don't for a second believe that current US administration wanted this war. But it would have taken skill and finesse to avoid it, not slogans and populism.
- foxyv 1y agoI think there are entire books written on this subject. Oil, Israel, shipping passage, Christian nationalism, and communism. The USA has been fighting wars in the middle east since the marines landed on a beach in Beirut in 1958.
