Atmospheric aerosol injection is absolutely real. Bill Gates said it's going to be used to block out the sun and reflect solar radiation back out to space. The guardian is not a legit news organization.
- audunw 1y agoThe hysteria that has triggered this kind of legislation is based on an idea of chemtrails that are absolutely not real. The legislation itself is also targeting something which is not yet real. Nobody is actually doing geo-engineering on a scale that matters for climate. There’s only small scale tests. And it’d be recklessly dumb to prohibit tests to figure out the impact of this kind of geo-engineering. We may need it if the global warming gets out of hand. Testing isn’t going to hurt anyone and will only give us more options to tackle challenges we may face in the future. Nobody is going to start an actual geo-engineering project without wide scale democratic support (on the federal level in the case of US). So this kind of legislation is a giant waste of time. It’s not in any way normal to try to ban something which hasn’t yet occurred, and if it ends up occurring, is probably because we really need to do that thing.
