X outage: Hacker group claims it took down former Twitter platform
- kapitanjakc 2y agoDo they have vulnerabilities and or security loopholes in organisation as big as twitter too ? Or is Ddos that big that they simply overwhelmed every security that was in place.
- breakyerself 2y agoThey've shut down redundant data centers, fired countless engineers. They've slimmed down into a more efficient, cheaper service that can't handle curve balls, but at least the website is overrun with neo-fascist morons.
- Mr_Eri_Atlov 2y agoDon't forget the data showing that as many as 1 out of every 3 users on X is now a bot
- hooloovoo_zoo 2y agoThey’ve had countless failed livestreams since Musk took over too.

- MaxSebasti 2y agoI guess that's what happens when you lay off most of your workforce.
- freedomben 2y agoif you lay off most of your workforce, hacker groups will target you for DDoS?
- dragontamer 2y agoDDOS attacks are constant on the internet. Your staff is in charge of protecting your computers from DDOS. If you fire your staff, it no longer becomes possible to keep your site up in the face of attacks.
- exe34 2y agonah, you don't even need an attacker here - he wants to mess with Ukraine, this is a great excuse.
- bink 2y agoMust was on TV just now claiming that the attack originated from IP addresses in Ukraine. This is not how modern DDoS attacks work and makes absolutely no sense.
- pityJuke 2y agoOut of curiosity, what is the modern state of DDoS? My current understanding is that you get massive botnets largely built up of vulnerable IoT devices.
- bink 2y agoThat's still a good chunk of traffic, but there's also compromised firewalls, VPNs, and random servers. The device types themselves change as new exploits are discovered. Because Twitter still uses their own data centers they could be subject to various amplification attacks as well. But if what he says is true and it's all coming from one country then that is trivial to block at ingress.
- qingcharles 2y agoKudlow: "Elon was very clear. I asked him about that. I asked him if it was a foreign source. He was very clear. He said Ukraine. He said Ukraine without any question." https://x.com/Acyn/status/1899222514569814244 https://x.com/Acyn/status/1899222514569814244 (apologies for Twitter link) Are there no Twitter employees willing to come out of the woodwork and put an end to this bullshit? It must have been all-hands-on-deck today, so there must be a large number who know the true story.
- detaro 2y agoA clear sign Musk should declare a ceasefire, stop posting about Ukraine and enter negotiations on how much of Twitter he is going to transfer into Ukrainian ownership.
- throw16180339 2y agoI expect Musk to use this attack as an excuse for sanctions against Ukraine.
- tracerbulletx 2y agoIs there any third party verification that there even was a DDoS attack?
