Friend builds app to help find climbers lost in Peru
- Foy 14y agoThis is really cool except that I have no idea what any of these things would look like from a satellite image. Could you possibly have "examples" of a base camp / avalanche / etc? I can't tell if something is an avalanche or just a river / runoff. Best of luck finding your friends!

- hamf 14y agoThey aren't my friends. Thought it was very sad/interesting though.
- brentvatne 14y agoSign up? Why can't I just browse it anonymously?
- nowarninglabel 14y agoI think you can actually, just x out of the sign up.
- tymekpavel 14y agoIt'd be helpful if the navigation didn't obscure the entire top left corner of the map.
- yaix 14y agoYou can drag it, just like Google Maps.
- leberwurstsaft 14y agoI'm quite amazed that this is even possible to do, as it needs recent satellite imagery both from after they allegedly hiked there and from shortly before, to be able to make comparisons. Is there some place where one can check the recency of all the available sources of satellite imagery from all over the world?
- zachinglis 14y agoThis is great. Really clever idea. But the Space bar for showing before/after doesn't work on Safari or Chrome.
- hogu 14y agospace bar doesn't seem to work for me (ubuntu, firefox and chrome)
- Stratoscope 14y agoSad news: the lost climbers, Gil and Ben, have been found dead. (See OP link for more.)
