- genewitch 2y agoA cursory scan doesn't turn up anything derogatory about that term, it came about 20 years after "black book". Whitelist doesn't appear worthy of an etymology, but my amateur supposition is it's merely the opposite of the phrase "blacklist" Sometimes a spade is just a spade.
