We're All in 'Dark Mode' Now
- BillyTheMage 2y agoTo light mode users: why are you cowering away from the flashlight I'm shining in your eyes? More light means you see better.

- metalman 2y agoI learned to take a picture of darkness, set that as my background picture, and then set the brightness at absolute minimum. Works everywhere except in direct sunlight, when trying to take a picture, but my new camera app has a feature to go to full brightness on launch ,hopefully that will fix that, and it occurs to me to look for the same feature in a photo album.
- RandomUser4976 2y agoExcited to read this article. I clicked. It loaded. White background. I closed immediately because it isn’t on a dark mode and hurt my eyes. Maybe I’m to old (30’s) with poor eyes or maybe I’m cranky.
- x______________ 2y agoYou should look into Firefox with the extension Dark Reader, it results in 99.95%* of the web being readable once more without relying on web devs to offer dark mode. *with the odd exception. -older crankier, probably. Edit: Ahhhhhhh I'm blind!! HN is bright white without the extension. How are you even here?!

- tcfhgj 2y agoI use dark mode only when I can't connect my IPS display. My notebook sadly has an OLED display, so dark mode reduces energy consumption and will make last the screen longer before burn in effects are visible.
