Intelligence agencies also stockpile software vulnerabilities that they don't report to the vendor because they want to exploit the security flaw themselves.
We'll never have a secure internet when it's being constantly and systematically undermined.
- ndsipa_pomu 2y agoYes, but spies are going to spy, so we should focus on getting software built to have security by design and not just keep out-sourcing to the cheapest programmers that don't even know what a sql injection is. Currently, with proprietary software, there's an incentive for companies to not even acknowledge bugs and it costs them money to fix issues, so they often rely on security through obscurity which is not much of a solution.
