- mmmlinux 2y agoHaven't you noticed? The future of all cars is SUV.
- audunw 2y agoThe future of electric transportation is bikes. Or some share of it at least. Perhaps something along the lines of Altera later, but we’re not there yet. Our family has a big-ish crossover. With modern safe child seats that’s almost a necessity for families with small kids these days. But instead of a second car we both have electric bikes and take the bike to work (when it’s not snowing, we live in the north). Don’t have to worry about needing to go to a gym, it’s free exercise, and uses far less energy than the car. I couldn’t get to work in a reasonable time without an electric bikes. My parents always had two cars as long as I can remember. Only with e-bikes is a second car fully redundant for us. (You may ask about winter.. we have decent public transportation here two so that’s also important) So does it matter then that the one car we do have is a bit on the big side?
- sligor 2y agoI have no problem with families buying large cars. But it's a minority. For example in my country people that buy huge SUVs are mostly retired.
- peutetre 2y agoThe EV3 is smaller than it looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu7qbFWf6i0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu7qbFWf6i0
- sligor 2y agoCompared to my medium sized early 2000's European car it is still a monster But yes, sure that compared to an average 2024 american car it is small. https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/peugeot-206-2009-5-door-hatchback-vs-kia-ev3-2024-suv/ https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/peugeot-206-2009-5-...
- peutetre 2y agoA Peugeot 206? Why do you need such a big car? Drive a Fiat 500e instead: https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/fiat-500-2020-3-door-hatchback-vs-peugeot-206-2009-5-door-hatchback/ https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/fiat-500-2020-3-doo... Or a Citroën Ami: https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/citroen-ami-2020-2-door-coupe-vs-peugeot-206-2009-5-door-hatchback/ https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/citroen-ami-2020-2-... Or a Renault Twizy: https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/renault-twizy-2011-2-door-coupe-vs-peugeot-206-2009-5-door-hatchback/ https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/renault-twizy-2011-...
- sligor 2y agoTrue ! that's why I said medium sized car. :) And I don't use it for commuting to work or go to groceries. So what's remaining needs a car with descent size and range for 2 persons. Best alternative for me would be that a fair car sharing/rental system develop even more so I can ditch my car and only rent the car size I need for the trip.
- FooBarBizBazz 2y agoThe EV4, by contrast, is sort of a hatchback, so that's a little better.
