Doesn't Davinci Resolve run well on Linux? I've heard most VFX and Animation work is done on Linux workstations and render farms.
Really it's just the absence of Adobe and a few beginner-friendly tools, I'd say.

- tombert 2y agoI think Linux is used extensively for the hyper-professional stuff, but those programs cost $10,000+ and really aren't meant for consumers. I haven't done video editing on Linux for awhile, Lightworks is generally pretty ok, but I don't really know of any equivalent to After Effects or Apple Motion available on Linux, at least in the consumer space. I don't really do enough interesting stuff with video for that to bother me but I suspect that could be a blocker for a lot of people.
