- r00fus 2y agoFrom das wiki: During his two terms in office, he undertook reforms which eventually led to growth in GDP, reduction in public debt and inflation, and helping 20 million Brazilians escape poverty. He is the most popular politician in Brazil and one of the most popular in the world. He didn’t get there by corruption.
- unmole 2y agoHis first term coincided with the commodity boom triggered by demand from a rising China. The growth was primarily down to luck.

- neves 2y agoBolsonaro had a commodity boom and transferred wealth to the Brazilian rich. Fernando Henrique Cardoso also had a commodity boom. Lula uses the commodity boom to enrich all population. A non radical international politic also helps. Bolsonaro fought with Chine, our main commercial partner

Growth in GDP in his first mandates was due to an historical commodities boom that surpassed his government disastrous policies and widespread corruption. Debt increased. He was imprisoned due to corruption. Lula is extremely unpopular and barely got elected despite massive support from media and political establishment. You are in a leftist information bubble. Try asking randoms on the street what they think of Lula.
- neves 2y agoFirst: stopped the radical external politics of Bolsonaro. In the few weeks of his government China suspended import restrictions of Brazilian products. Started a responsible fiscal policy, all ratings agencies improved the country grade.
