I wonder if the "Thiel fellowship" model is a scalable form of education? Would some portion of bright young people benefit from pursuing their most ambitious idea for two years? It could be kind of like a gap year but applied to pursuing some ambitious idea. If it works, great. If it doesn't, returning to college would still be an option.
