Ask HN: What's the way to find a job in 2024?
- shortrounddev2 3y agoLinkedin
- lukasm 3y agoLinkedin jobs or connecting with people? It's challenging to post #OpenToWork while still employed :)
- jetti 3y agoThere are some settings in your profile that show you are open to work without broadcasting it on your profile picture. There is also a setting that is supposed to hide the fact you said you were open to work from people at your company but I’m not sure if that really works.
- gmreads 3y agoHave used this feature, works exactly like this. However it is a hit or miss, most of the incoming recruiters/companies are far below my standards. The best way to use LinkedIn is to send out requests to engineers where I want to work and ask for referrals. It's important to do your homework on the role, company, and person. Most of the people are happy to refer if you do this.
- Evolve03 3y agoThe best way would be by networking.
- mcsniff 3y agoMany will disagree, but moving can be a dead simple way to get a job. Increase the scope of where you're looking for jobs, consider moving to a place most people don't want to -- you might actually like it and can become a big fish in a little pond.
- meiraleal 3y agoBecoming a influencer/content creator developer it seems.
- AznHisoka 3y agoI send a daily email with the latest remote engineering jobs. It’s free to subscribe here: https://bloomberry.com/remote-jobs/ https://bloomberry.com/remote-jobs/ Does it work? I’ve only been sending it for a few weeks and so far one person has told me they’ve gotten an interview from a job I posted. Nothing is every outdated and it’s jobs posted in the past 24 hours so you’ll be one of the first to apply :)
- DANmode 3y agoThis thread is pretty complete.
- interbased 3y agoNetworking is usually the best way. Meet folks in the industry at Meetups and talks. Bookmark job search websites with the filters you want and apply for jobs - reach out to any contacts you have on LinkedIn that work there, or if you don’t have any, the Recruiter or Tech Recruiter.
- rasulkireev 3y agoDirect outreach is definitely the way. I built a tool to find a lot of the recent job openings online and put them into a database. You can create an alert to notify yourself of jobs using your tech stack and message directly. It's free, checkout it out: https://gettjalerts.com/ https://gettjalerts.com/
