      I'd argue the people of Ukraine are 'winning' compared to if Russia won. Like I really don't know what people expect Ukraine to do other than fight - get annexed and endure another Holodomor? It's not exactly a choice.

        It could be worse but they took a bigger hit than germany or france during either world war demographically, best case scenario they get their entire territory back, spend 10+ years on demining, another 10+ years on rebuilding and the next 50 years getting back to their pre war population. On the other side the US gets free weapon testing range, weakens russia like never before, keep the military industry afloat, use all their soon to expire/expired stocks, sign military and construction contracts for the eventual post war rebuilding, &c.
