Immigration will raise GDP, since it increases the size of the workforce, but it's not clear that it will raise the per-capita incomes of the people who already live in the country. - ece 3y agoPosted a link to archive.is: https://archive.is/y9nZK https://archive.is/y9nZK To be frank, someone could also make the argument immigration is good for inflation and productivity since it grows the population and provides a more competitive labor market. This is in addition to what is mentioned in the article like higher rates of contributing to the economy in various ways. The social safety net should also improve as the population grows though, and that would include job assistance for those already here. The benefits of immigration far outweigh the costs, but if you only focus on the costs, you ignore the benefits.
