free speech for the win even if you hate these guys, they should be allowed to talk to each other and share that conversation (that you'll probably hate)

Agreed it is probably as simple as free speech. I hope that it is useful to some citizens. But for me the real story is why Carlson is the only western journalist who has done it recently. I've seen many interviews with Putin from non western sources and am familiar with his career and opinions. I just feel that there are too few western journalists (even in neutral, non NATO countries) who aren't earning their pay.
