I agree that this is what OP is saying. But it's funny that that didn't actually happen? All I saw was mainstream media outlets continuously chiding their own readers for not being sufficiently empathetic to poor, white, Trump voters.

You'll notice and remember what annoys you. The articles confirming your world view aren't noteworthy. I'm curious what media you consume. I stumpled on an opinion piece just the other day with "red flags to identify a Republican", I may be biased but it seems those kinds of pieces are always from one side of the political spectrum. Likewise I've never seen "if you vote for democrats swipe left" on Tinder, but the opposite is extremely common.
